Food Bank Friday: Info about signups added – Four volunteers still needed!

Back by popular demand! Join us at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina in Raleigh. We have 20 slots reserved for the Furloughed Feds group. Let’s have an OAQPS – ORD challenge! Bragging rights to the office that signs up the most volunteers. Four slots left – despite what the Food Bank signup site says.

Hey everyone, we have heard that a number of you have had trouble registering — even as individual volunteers — on the Food Bank website. Just send a comment below, and we’ll let the Food Bank know you’re coming. You may be able to fill the waiver out in advance (see below). Thanks!

To fill the waiver out in advance, go to this site: https://fb.samaritan.com/custom/519/#/volunteer_home. In the upper right corner, you’ll see Login/Registration. From there, click “Register to Volunteer” and fill out the waiver. Don’t worry about linking to the afternoon slot – they are aware we are coming.

If you’ve already successfully registered, you’re all set. Thanks!

Here are the details:

• When: Friday, January 25, from 1 to 3 p.m.

• Where: Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, 1924 Capital Blvd., Raleigh, NC.
  • Please note! If you normally would use Wade Avenue to get to Capital Boulevard, the northbound bridge is closed. If you’re coming from points west, take exit 289 from I-40 to Wake Ave, then take the Beltline (I-440E/US 1 N toward Wake Forest and Rocky Mount), to exit 11 (US 401 South/Capital Boulevard).

• What to wear: Closed-toe shoes required. Also, it’s going to be chilly on Thursday, and the Food Bank building is only partially heated. Layers recommended!
