Tuesday, Oct. 15 Opportunity: Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina – Durham Branch – There’s Still Room for a Few More!
If we’re still out on Tuesday, please join us from 1-4 p.m. at the Durham branch of the Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina. The Food Bank needs 25 volunteers for tasks such as bagging donated produce for distribution, sorting donated grocery items or assisting with other warehouse tasks. Contact Cheryl Vetter if you would like to participate. Please also read the information below.
Time: 1-4 p.m.
Waiver required: If you have not previously volunteered with the Food Bank, you’ll need to fill out a waiver. Please arrive a little before 1, so that you can fill out the form, and get instructions from Food Bank staff.
What to wear: Food Bank warehouses are not climate controlled, so dress accordingly. The Food Bank recommends casual attire but, please, no short shorts or halter tops. Closed toed shoes are required. Volunteers wearing sandals or flip-flops are not permitted to work.
- Storage space is limited, so do not bring purses or other valuable items.
- No food or drink on the warehouse floor.
- Please do not use headphones or phones while working in the warehouse.
- Volunteers may not use any equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) without proper training.
